Even a middle aged man can learn how to swim efficient freestyle.
This is my case.
When my concept of swimming freestyle was "to keep pulling the water as hard as possible," I couldn't swim freestyle without more than a 2-minute rest each lap.
After I changed the concept to "quickly switching the sides then gliding longer," I could swim much easier and faster.
Below is the comparison at the same tempo.
When I focused on pulling, I brought bubbles instead of water.

Another “power” swimmer here - this makes me want to take up swimming again! It looks so appealing to move through water economically, with ease. A metaphor for how to live.

After a month of practice I was able to do this for 1 min. Everything just came together, kick, catch, ease. It felt wonderful!!! This stroke is actually not easy to do. For me at least. Takes relaxation, patience, streamline, and exquisite timing. Hopefully I can go slower, so in future I can go faster.
